Links to finalized articles should be added to the table of contents (TOC) by the ME once proofreading has finished and the article has been finalized. This includes converting footnotes to endnotes, selecting pull quotes, and updating the final word count. The ME is responsible for generating the TOC document for the collective to work on.
Each issue of the magazine has a TOC document that we use to deliver final manuscripts and artwork to the designer and web editor, and plan social media/online roll out. In the PDF, certain content types appear in a certain order (e.g. front matter, chapter reports, reviews), but the ME decides the flow of articles from page to page. The art editors choose (with some flexibility) where art features are placed. And the EC along with the social media and web editors choose the timeline for releasing each article.
See below for an example TOC.
