ARTICLE ACCEPTANCE TEMPLATE

Dear ____________,

Our editorial collective is delighted to accept your submission on ______ for Volume XXX, no. XXX of Science for the People magazine, “___________.” We request that you confirm by _______ that you are committed to completing the piece. We hope that the answer is “yes” as we are greatly looking forward to working with you!

To ensure timely publication of the issue, we have set a deadline of ___________ for the first draft. Earlier submissions are encouraged whenever possible. We ask that you:

  • Follow , especially for your references (our guide is )

  • Stick with the word limit of _____ words;

  • Plan to be available for rapid responses to questions and approval (or negotiation) of recommended changes by your editors in the weeks following your submission.

Your assigned editors are XXXXXX and XXXXXXXX. They should be in touch shortly with an author brief and more information on the relevant deadlines throughout the process. If you have not received a message from them within the next week, please reach out to me!

As a reminder, we can offer a payment of XXXX for your writing [NOTE: double check if this has changed after framework review], per our . We also offer a kill fee of __ the above amount, upon the discretion of the publisher and after delivery of a full first draft, in the event that the article is pulled by either you or the editorial collective. I will be sending in you our payment contract in a separate email. If you are planning on having co-authors, please let me know who they are so I can add them to the roster and adjust the contract accordingly. For articles with more than two authors, we can only pay one author. They will be responsible for distributing payment to the co-authors.

We plan to publish your article in a print/PDF version of the magazine, however, we occasionally publish select articles as online-only features for reasons of space or timing. We anticipate that the full issue will be published, online at magazine.scienceforthepeople.org, beginning in ___________.

We also ask that you fill out a so we can include your bio in our issue. If you are not going to be donating your payment, please also fill out which will help us get you your payment as soon as possible.

Finally, we are collecting demographic information on all our authors to help us stay accountable to the social justice mission of Science for the People. If you have not already done so, please fill out our questionnaire . Any responses shared publicly will be anonymized; your responses will only be shared with the editorial collectives and the officers of SftP Magazine.
